Trip to Kunming / Stone Forest / Jiu Xiang

Day 1

We reached Kunming airport at about 5pm, so by the time we reach our hotel and rest a bit, it's time for dinner and some shopping.

For budget travelers, I would recommend that you stay in Fairyland Hotel (Kundu). Perfect location and super duper cheap. It's about RM100/night inclusive of breakfast. Their breakfast is not bad too.

First stop is Jian Xin Yuan
We just told our taxi driver for recommendation and he brought us here. You have to queue up infront of their restaurant for them to take your orders. After you made your order and pay, you then proceed inside their restaurant to collect your bowl of noodle.

 Over-the-Bridge Rice Noodle
Trust me, you will be eating this dish everyday.

This is supposed to be the most famous dish in the restaurant. You have to dip the raw meat in the hot soup to cook it and then follow by the noodle. I don't think their soup was hot enough to cook the meat. However, the meat came out well done surprisingly. Don't bother too much about the layer of oil on your soup, Kunming dishes are very oily, you'll get used to it.

The shopping area

More shopping area

Babi Club in Kundu. Lol
Kundu is full of clubs and you'll be surprised that there are so many people going clubbing on a Monday

 Day 2

We went to Stone Forest which is about 2 hours away from the city. According to our driver cum tour guide, this place is rated as 5-star and a UNESCO listed site. Throughout our trip, we booked a lady driver who brought us to all these long-distance touristy places.

Beautiful, isn't it?

It's a lot of walking if you want to explore the entire Stone Forest.

Ahem. Testing my flexibility here

Over-the-Bridge Rice Noodle again for lunch

This is also Over-the-Bridge Rice Noodle

After our lunch, we went to Jiuxiang Scenic Area. This scenic area consists of a few scenic spot.
The gigantic cave and this is just a small part of it.

Do you like flowers? I do!!!

The colourful cave and the doggy footprints

 The twin waterfall

Dunno how to describe this

Okay, till then cuz I am sleepy now. To be continued.

Mini Honeymoon at Swiss Garden Golf Resort & Spa Damai Laut

We had our mini honeymoon at Swiss Garden Damai Laut last weekend.
It's a "mini" because we already had our "pre"-honeymoon at Bali few months ago and I am still looking forward to a major honeymoon hopefully to Europe or somewhere really far. :P Anyway, if that doesn't happen, the earliest holiday for us would be to Melbourne next year May..woohooot! This shall be my first western destination after swearing not to go to another Asian country for so many times!

Since I just started working again and now that I have to juggle between my new home and my mom's place, my time is getting lesser, and hence, less time to blog :P

I was going to blog about my wedding but since it has to be a really lengthy post, here's a spoiler first. :P

With super chio heavy make up on my wedding day

This is the first photo I took when I reached the hotel lobby

It's our 3th visit here and we are gonna spend 3 days 2 night :).The drive from KL to Damai Laut is slightly more than 3 hours. The only reason why we came so many times is because we get free stays. We'll just have to endure 2-3 hours sales talk from the sales consultant promoting their time-sharing package. :P

Beach side.
They have a restaurant by the beach which served bbq seafood buffet and we planned to have our dinner here but quite disappointed loh because it was closed on our first night and on our 2nd night, they are closed for private function.

This resort has a jetty

And a lighthouse too

Hotel food. It wasn't too bad but a bit pricey though.
Cantonese fried noodle - RM22

IMG_2711
Chicken Chop - RM22
The portion is really huge.

On our 2nd night, we decided to explore out of the resort to Hailam Village Seafood.
This is the nearest restaurant from the resort and it's recommended by the hotel staff.

IMG_2716

Ho Chien.
It's looks a bit different from the normal Ho Chien but it tastes good though.
The egg part is super super chrunchy.
Sigh.. I left my Canon G9 at home and the photos here are taken with my iPhone so pls pardon my lousy photos.

IMG_2718
Their signature home made beancurd.
It is really soft and smooth.

IMG_2720
Salted Egg with Buttermilk Crab
This is really good. I had buttermilk crab and salted egg crabs before this but this is the first time I had both buttermilk and salted egg mixed together.

IMG_2719
Sweet and sour yu piu.
This is really not my taste cause I think they put too much ginger in it but surprisingly, Roy loved this dish.

IMG_2721
Our bill.

Direction:
To get here from the the resort, just make two right turns at the junctions, and make two left turns at the traffic right. It's about 15-20 minutes drive.
Before heading back to KL on our last day, we drove around for food and also to check out lumut waterfront.

IMG_2732
Mr Cendol.
Found this place through our GPS POI. Can't really live without GPS nowadays.
This place is just besides a petrol station, but I can't remember which one though.

IMG_2738
Their cendol is superb!!!!
It's even better than the popular cendol in Penang.
The green cendol is slightly salty which tasted a bit like the green part of kuih dalam and
the santan and gula melaka taste is super strong and awesome. I would definately come again.

IMG_2740
Their assam laksa is fabulous too!
It has loads of assam which makes it very sour.

Inside of the shop

IMG_2744
Their menu, wondering if their nasi lemak and other main dish is as good too.

IMG_2747
They have this cute outdoor seatings but too bad the weather is too hot for us to sit out.

IMG_2755
Here is another place that I've found on my GPS and supposed to be good in grilled seafood.
Too bad they only served the grilled stuff after 6pm

IMG_2753
We drop by this shop for some dried seafood shopping

Why I love Bali ♥

1. Fantastic live bands and nightlife

IMG_6658
Me in front of vi ai pi club (pronounced as VIP). It's two-storey with really nice and loud live band at night.
This street is full of pubs and is really happening at night.

2. Their avocado drink and salad is awesome and cheap!

IMG_7887

3. A diving paradise - They have manta rays, sunfish aka mola-mola and and a nice WW2 wreck dive (Liberty Wreck). Their fishes are very friendly too as they swim really close to you.

IMG_7420
That's me in the orange fins & a school of Jack fish. It should be enough fishes for me to eat for a few lives.

4. Value-for-money hotels.
We stayed at Alam Asmara and Adi Dharma and they are among the best hotels that I have stayed so far.

Alam Asmara Hotel, Candidasa. USD70/night
Too romantic...I was like oooohhhhhhhhhh when I saw it.

IMG_7206
Our toilet @ Alam Asmara
The flowers on the basin are just too pretty and I felt really guilty when I had to flush them away.

IMG_7196
Don't you think that Jasmine flower is lovely?
I love the two little glass bottles of Jasmine shampoo and conditioner. I finished the shampoo & conditioner and dunno what to do with the nice empty bottles.

There are fishes in that little pond too!

I copied this photo somewhere cause the photos that I took sucks. Hmm..wondering where all the people gone in this photo. When we were there, there were maybe more than a hundred people lazing on the beach, some topless and probably another hundred surfers surfing at the mad wave. As we were walking along the beach, I feared that the wave is just gonna swept Roy and he can't swim! This reminds me of Shirley & Angel's near death experience back at our Phuket holiday more than a decade ago. We were just playing at shallow water, maybe knee level when one mad unexpected wave just came and swept everyone apart and pull u gals out to the sea. As for myself, fortunately I was swept snowball-style like a ragged doll back to the beach. Luckily, I was not wearing bikinis cause my normal swim suit also almost fell off. :P

6. Feels good to wear bikini and sundress all day long :D cuz..
  • I can go for a swim anytime I want! as Kuta beach is just a stonethrow away from our hotel and the happening area
  • Can try on clothes anywhere anytime, at the rdside stall, etc.
  • Their weather is damn hot & humid even at night
  • It feels and looks odd to wear one back here.

7.Cheap Japanese

IMG_7825
This Japanese set lunch is only for 50,000rp (RM18) This is even better than Mcvalue price. Guarantee cannot find this cheap in KL

IMG_7835

IMG_7836
Japanese Restaurant Fukutaro

Do you know how to eat sushi the correct way?
IMG_7810
Hmm...I tried with the chopstick but the sashimi will fall off when it is hold in that position.

8. Great for sunbathing

IMG_7851
These pink sun chairs and me is love at first sight. ♥ I almost squeal in excitement when I spotted this chair at the beach. LOL..

IMG_7845
The cushion has coke logo and it's red, double love

While I am trying to enjoy myself at the beach, Roy keeps pestering me to take his photo, so he got what he wants >>>

IMG_7859

IMG_7861

9. Great for surfing

IMG_7875

Surfing is so hard :(, I rented this bodyboard and could never catch the wave though been trying relentlessly for at least an hour in the cruel wave. After I am done with the surfing, I was so panicked cause I couldn't find Roy and I don't even recognise that part of the beach! After searching for at least 15 minutes, I realised that I have drifted at least 500 m away from where I started. LOL..

10. Babi Guling
