Japanese BBQ at Taman Desa

For my mom's birthday, initially I had wanted to bring her to Yuzu at The Garden for a nice Japanese dinner.
As the rain has stopped right before our dinner time, I thought it would be a fantastic idea to go for Japanese BBQ al-fresco style. I asked if she would like to try Japanese BBQ or Yuzu. She chose Japanese BBQ so off we went. It was a good idea too since it was a Friday night and most the places are jam. So going to Japanese BBQ at Taman Desa which is also near our home seems to be perfect (plus it is a lot cheaper for my pocket as compared to Yuzu..hahah)

The Genghis Khan Lamb is cooking on the grill
It comes with a lot of cabbage and it is the only meat dish here which doesn't require barbeque-ing

We ordered mixed vegetables with pork and beef for BBQ-ing.
For BBQ, they only have pork and beef though. So there's no chicken or seafood.
The meat is tender and it's marinated well, not too strong so that it doesn't overshadow the original taste of the meat.
On the bottom right is their special sauce to dip your meat in.

 The birthday girl

Mom seems to be happy with the food.

Since this place is always crowded, we are lucky to get a place without having to wait.
We had to take the bar table with high stool though.
Since both the table and grill is so tall, we had to stand up in order to grill.
If you look at the bottom right of the picture above, the others will put the grill on a small chair beside the table.
Coming with my mom & hubby is a joy because they will do all the bbq-ing while my job is just to eat and eat. Hahaha..

For drinks, we ordered green tea and a bottle of Asahi. The price comes to about RM80 plus for the 3 of us. Considering this set up, it wasn't cheap but I would say it's a reasonable price. I will definitely revisit this place especially right after a rainy day.
As for service wise, it's like of a hawker place. So hope you don't expect soft-spoken Japanese girls to be taking your order :P.

Address:
Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ
Center Court, Plaza Faber
Jalan Desa Jaya
Taman Desa Off Jalan Klang Lama

Direction: Plaza Faber is the row of old shops besides Wisma TM (where TM point is). The stall is in an alley among the shops row somewhere in the middle.

Dependent Grown Up Children

What makes me really mad...is when I see a parent KEEP supporting his or her grown up children. Needless to say, these adults are raised and spoiled to be dependent, careless, selfish and having that "i entitle it" attitude.

As a parent, when you keep on supporting your children financially,
Does your children appreciate you more? No.
Is he ever going to be financially independent? Most likely not.
Is he going to return your money? No.
Does it improve your relationship when you ask your children back for the money? No
When you are old, sick and poor, can he/she support your needs? No.
Does it strain the relationship between your dependent child with the independent ones? Oh hell, yes.
What are the chances of him getting into situation or stuff that he couldn't afford? 100%

As a result, the parents are working their butts off while the children conveniently milking their money.

I do want to be blase about this but I just can't no matter how hard I tried.
Here's an article titled

Enabling Self-Indulgent Adult Children Is Not Good Parenting

which I seriously like to share. My favourite line for this article is "Adult children who are not disabled should not be supported by their parents and parents should not support their adult children"

Ar Leng CKT @ Khoon Hiang Cafe, Penang
You can request to add mantis prawn and duck egg to your CKT here.
I would prefer the CKT at Kafe Heng Huat of Lorong Selamat cause their prawn are fresher than the ones here.

The set lunches at Redbox, Gurney is really not bad
For the price of RM12++ onwards for a main course, a drink and 3 hours karaoke time, this deal is superb!

Braised noodle with flower crab and prawn
The noodle, crab and prawn is a great combo and it's really hard to find both crab and prawn this fresh. I would highly recommend this.

Claypot fish head with yam.
This is one of the restaurant's signature dish, it does taste good and the fish is really fresh.

Kappa mee suah, another signature dish
This was also a great dish, my only grip is the mee suah is slightly too soft and soggy.
It's lala is so fresh and sweet.

Sunshine Bay is right opposite this condo called Harmony Residence.
Just out random curiosity, I checked the price for this property and it's worth a staggering RM3 mil for this 5000 sqft apartment!

Rojak's Guide to Living Together in Harmony

You wonder a lot...
1. You wonder why your favourite Hello Kitty cup is used as a flower pot. because your mom dented it.

2. You wonder why there are 4-5 indoor slippers around the house and none is yours.
3. You wonder where your favourite Hello Kitty bath towel is. It's on the kitchen floor
4. You wonder why there are an old shirt + red welcome mat + old men's brief on your kitchen floor.

5. You wonder why your car in not where you parked it.
6. You wonder why your cat is using your bowl.
7. You wonder why you are getting a lot of sms-es from strangers enquiring about the missed call that you didn't make.
8. You wonder why you need to refill your fuel tank so frequently when you hardly drive.
9. You wonder why your cat has more cutlery than you.

The perks of living with your family :)) You've got:
1. Someone to take care torture your cat when you are away (with a bribe)
2. Someone to take care of your car and your house when you are away
3. Someone to switch off your tv and stereo when you fell asleep.
4. Someone to tar pau breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper for you.<3
5. Someone to cry together when your cat died.
6. Someone to cry together when you watch soap opera.
7. Someone who never FFK the outings that you've made.
8. Someone to pay your food/credit card/utilities/maintenance fees when you are out of job for X months.
9. Someone who never hold a grunge against you even though you have been a really badass.
10.Someone who will dash back from work to take you to clinic when you need it.
11.Someone to remind you to take your lunch even though you are already X0 years old.
12.Someone to hear your yakking about your latest hobbies and how you like/hate the astro-on-demand dramas.
13.Some to hear your incessant complaints/bitching about the weather, friends, colleagues, bosses, etc etc
14.The list goes on.

If you ask me whether I enjoy living with my family, it's a resounding yes and it will never change. End.
