Dim Sum at Oversea Restaurant @ Seri Petaling

Nowadays when I think of dim sum, there are only 2 places that would cross my mind, one is the Oversea Restaurant @ Seri Petaling and the other one is China Treasures @ Sime Darby Convention Centre. This post would be for dim sum at Oversea Restaurant.
Overseas Restaurant is a 2-storey restaurant which can be pretty crowded especially on the weekends.
We went on a Sunday around 10.30am and waited about 10 - 15 mins for our table. They serve really fast though, within like 5 mins after ordering, our table is already full of dim sums. I would prefer if they serve one-by-one with some interval between so that we won't have to rush through fearing that our dim sum might get cold.
I am going to rate the dim sum here from Mediocre to Good, because there isn't one that would fit the poor description, in my opinion. :)

IMG_1061
Egg tart - Good
Both the egg custard and pastry was warm and soft - Perfect combination!
IMG_1072
Har kow - Mediocre
The taste was bland and the prawn wasn't very succulent.
IMG_1071
Their special Cheong Fun with popiah-like filling
Mediocre to Good
IMG_1070
Fish ball - This is definately a Mediocre.
Lack of fish taste and texture was too soft for my liking.

IMG_1066
BBQ pork cheong fun and chili paste - Both is Good.
IMG_1064
Fried prawn with salad sauce - Mediocre
The skin wasn't crunchy enough and the prawn wasn't the most succulent.
IMG_1063
Wu kok - even better than Good
This is a must-try. The yam was soft and smooth and the char siew was juicy and very flavourful.
IMG_1060
Char Siew Sou - Good!
It seems that anything at Oversea with char siew are really remarkable, the flaky and soft pastry is awesome too!
(I miss taking the photo >_<)
Char Siew Pau - Good!
Fluffy and soft bun with char siew *Orgasmic*

Restoran Dim Sum Yum Cha, Kuchai Avenue - Revisit

There are only 2 Dim Sum restaurants in Kuchai Entrepreneurs' Park that is worth going. The first one is the popular and established Restaurant Jin Xuan Hong Kong (or better known as Kam Hin) which has 5 branches. The second one is the newly opened Restoran Dim Sum Yum Cha at Kuchai Avenue which is under Grand Cuisinelicious Sdn Bhd.

This will be my 2nd visit here. Here's the post of my first visit.

They will give you free egg tarts when you show your parking ticket.
I wonder if they have already implemented this during my first visit cause I didn't notice know this before.

IMG_0093
Their egg tarts which is quite good.

Instead of ordering chinese tea to go with the dim sum, we've decided to try their many varieties of herbal drinks:

Right: Mint leave with chrysanthemum @ RM3.50
Left: Sugar cane with water chestnut @ RM3.50

Their dim sum is only served upon order and the waiting time is still quite long.

Waiting..and..waiting...

and still waiting!!!

The most lousy red bean paste with sesame rice ball:
IMG_0076
The sesame rice ball is good but the red bean paste is super duper thick it becomes hard to swallow. If you throw this to the wall, it will probably stick on to the wall.

IMG_0087
This photo proved that I am not exaggerating.

IMG_0078
Mango crispy rolls @ RM4.80
This is marked as recommended in their menu but it is only so-so.

IMG_0080
Prawn is fresh and succulent.
Char siew pau is nice too as the pau skin is very soft

IMG_0085
Pork ribs is not bad.

Ok, that's all. I will certainly revisit this place again for dim sum but maybe not too soon :)

UPDATES: Super Deals is offering RM18 for cash voucher worth of RM30 at this restaurant. Don't miss it! Deal ends 29-April 2011.

Restoran Dim Sum Yum Cha, Kuchai Avenue

Last weekend, we have decided to give this new restaurant in Kuchai Avenue a try. Most of the shop at Kuchai Avenue is still vacant but this restaurant is bustling with people.

Their shop front
There wasn't too many parking infront of the shop and so we had to park at the basement @ RM3 per entry.
IMG_9623
Their menu, very reasonably priced.

Their wash area is impressive too

Here's the dim sum:

Their chu cheung fun is overloaded with char siew wrapped in really thin noodle.
You'll either love it or hate it.
IMG_9679
Fried Yam Taro
IMG_9681
Their fried yam taro is so gooood as the taro is really smooth and soft.
IMG_9639
Loves their salad prawn too, it is bigger than the average salad prawn and is really crunchy.

Custard Bun
IMG_9632
Look at their melted custard filling - heavenly!

Teapot and cup
Look at what I've found. The cat sneakily placed besides the entrance:

Here's our bill, it's RM48.84 for the four of us. With the quality of the food and their restaurant decor, I would say that their price is a steal!

Overall, their dim sum is quite good and I would definately come back again.
The only drawback is their dim sums are served upon order and it takes them a while to serve it.
