Sipadan Water Village Resort

Hi people! Here's the post on my trips to Sipadan.

My first visit was back in 2008 (already 5 years ago!)
Here's my accommodation back then.

This is supposedly the entrance of our backpacker's lodge at Mabul Island. The name of the lodge is called Arung Hayat as written on the wooden door. Hehe..looks terrible, right? It's actually a lot better than what it seems. My friend said that it's looks like a jamban (toilet) more than a lodge. It's super cheap though, it's only RM60/nite which is inclusive of all meals.

Here's a better photo:

In front of our rooms. This looks a lot livable than the previous photo right? There were turtles swimming around from time to time.

I can do this all day, swinging my legs at the porch while facing the sea and  watching passing boats/turtles.

We decided to go for the 2nd trip because AirAsia was having free tickets promo then and the return tickets to Tawau was only RM73 nett! We then book the resort during Matta fair and the diving + accommodation + meal rate was RM2058/pax for 5 days 4 night.

Here's the photos at Sipadan Water Village Resort.

We have arrived! The resort staff warmly greeted us upon arrival and took this photo for us.

Foods are included in the package and it's buffet style. So it's important to know the meal time. ;)

Can't think of a description here.

Facial mask is a must for holiday for some pampering and to battle dehydration from travelling and sun.
I think I would look good if my skin was fairer (see the photo)

Clear water

The holiday makers - Hubby, me, shirley, james (from left to right)

 Private Jacuzzi

The grand deluxe room which we get to stay for a day.
We were living like a nomad throughout the trip, changing room everyday cause the agent messed up our booking.

The walk from the restaurant back to our room is like 1km away, and I am SERIOUS.
If you are going with the elderly, please request for rooms nearer to the restaurant.

 My dinner
Food was not bad, but not excellent either.

Evening time at the resort

We actually spent majority of our time out at the sea, diving. For some day, we actually had to wake up at 4.30am, no kidding!

This is me after hours of soaking in the sea water.  See that camera I was holding, I lost it while diving and all my precious diving photos were gone. :(
Bye bye G9, you will be missed dearly.

This photo was taken from our room. Nice or not?

Same background, with me.

This photo was taken on our last day with sunkissed skin.
After 5 days of merciless sun bathing, my skin is like 10x darker, it was already dark to begin with.

By the way, if you are interested to book, please stay clear from Oriental Grace Travel because they will mess up your booking and refuse to entertain you afterwards. Can you imagine that we booked and paid for standard room and to our horror, we were given Junior cottage room (the cheapest room) upon check in.

Bye bye!

Why I love Bali ♥

1. Fantastic live bands and nightlife

IMG_6658
Me in front of vi ai pi club (pronounced as VIP). It's two-storey with really nice and loud live band at night.
This street is full of pubs and is really happening at night.

2. Their avocado drink and salad is awesome and cheap!

3. A diving paradise - They have manta rays, sunfish aka mola-mola and and a nice WW2 wreck dive (Liberty Wreck). Their fishes are very friendly too as they swim really close to you.

IMG_7420
That's me in the orange fins & a school of Jack fish. It should be enough fishes for me to eat for a few lives.

4. Value-for-money hotels.
We stayed at Alam Asmara and Adi Dharma and they are among the best hotels that I have stayed so far.

Too romantic...I was like oooohhhhhhhhhh when I saw it.

Our toilet @ Alam Asmara
The flowers on the basin are just too pretty and I felt really guilty when I had to flush them away.

Don't you think that Jasmine flower is lovely?
I love the two little glass bottles of Jasmine shampoo and conditioner. I finished the shampoo & conditioner and dunno what to do with the nice empty bottles.

I copied this photo somewhere cause the photos that I took sucks. Hmm..wondering where all the people gone in this photo. When we were there, there were maybe more than a hundred people lazing on the beach, some topless and probably another hundred surfers surfing at the mad wave. As we were walking along the beach, I feared that the wave is just gonna swept Roy and he can't swim! This reminds me of Shirley & Angel's near death experience back at our Phuket holiday more than a decade ago. We were just playing at shallow water, maybe knee level when one mad unexpected wave just came and swept everyone apart and pull u gals out to the sea. As for myself, fortunately I was swept snowball-style like a ragged doll back to the beach. Luckily, I was not wearing bikinis cause my normal swim suit also almost fell off. :P

6. Feels good to wear bikini and sundress all day long :D cuz..
  • I can go for a swim anytime I want! as Kuta beach is just a stonethrow away from our hotel and the happening area
  • Can try on clothes anywhere anytime, at the rdside stall, etc.
  • Their weather is damn hot & humid even at night
  • It feels and looks odd to wear one back here.

7.Cheap Japanese

IMG_7825
This Japanese set lunch is only for 50,000rp (RM18) This is even better than Mcvalue price. Guarantee cannot find this cheap in KL

Japanese Restaurant Fukutaro

Do you know how to eat sushi the correct way?
IMG_7810
Hmm...I tried with the chopstick but the sashimi will fall off when it is hold in that position.

8. Great for sunbathing

IMG_7851
These pink sun chairs and me is love at first sight. ♥ I almost squeal in excitement when I spotted this chair at the beach. LOL..

IMG_7845
The cushion has coke logo and it's red, double love

While I am trying to enjoy myself at the beach, Roy keeps pestering me to take his photo, so he got what he wants >>>

9. Great for surfing

IMG_7875

Surfing is so hard :(, I rented this bodyboard and could never catch the wave though been trying relentlessly for at least an hour in the cruel wave. After I am done with the surfing, I was so panicked cause I couldn't find Roy and I don't even recognise that part of the beach! After searching for at least 15 minutes, I realised that I have drifted at least 500 m away from where I started. LOL..

10. Babi Guling

This is how I get comfy in a cramped Airasia

My Travel Tips and Travel Map

I shall be going to Bali for diving, excited!!!
It's the manta ray season now and sunfish season is starting next month. So, I might have a high chance to spot Mr. Manta and there still some hope to spot Mr. Sunfish.  :)))

Manta ray

Sunfish also known as Mola-mola

As a sucker for travelling, here is my TOP 3 personal travel tips for anyone who want to plan their trips.

1. To check airasia lowest rate,go to http://www.skyscanner.com.my/, which will show you the lowest rate and date for every month of the year. This will save u the pain to search through 365 days of the year.

2. To check the lowest hotel rate, go to hotelscombined.com, this save you the hassle of going thru 1000+ hotel booking sites to get the cheapest rate.

3. Of course, to find a value-for-money and good hotel to stay in, do check out the forums on tripadvisor.com for the guests' comments. Do not simply trust the fancy hotel's site as you might be fooled. It's also pretty easy to decide which hotel that you wanna stay as tripadvisor rank hotels based on the guests reviews and rating. You can also see the photos taken by the guests as photos on the hotel/booking sites are normally taken at their best (so you won't see the ugly or mediocre part of the hotel)

4. Last but not least, to find out all you need to know about your travel destination, go to wikitravel.com
You will find info such as what to do, how to access, food to eat, what to buy, etc.

Well, I think these tips should quite useful ya? Care to share if you have any travel planning tips?

Here's my travel map for the places that I have been to:
