Port Dickson: My 1 Day Eating Trip

My MIL has been talking about PD for at least a hundred times and so we finally took her there the weekend before CNY.

Our first stop on this trip is the famous Lucky King Bun at Lukut.

Our hotel, the Avillion Admiral Cove (RM200/night)
I was a bit disappointed with the hotel cause it looks much better in photos. Also, the name Avillion gave me a higher expectation.

At around 4 something, we headed to the famous Saturday night market at PD, which is full of different varieties of food and drinks.

I was tempted by this banner so I decided to try them out.

Original Resepi Penang. Very good marketing right?

IMG_0755
Ta-dah! The super soggy "Original resepi penang" char kuey tiau
I do like soggy char kuey tiau but this is by far the soggiest one.
It was so-so only :P but a good thing is they have seats so that we have a place to whack all the other foods that we tarpau-ed.

Mini-doughnut? It was really sweet and chrunchy

After stuffing ourselves with the food from the night market, we headed for a walk at the beach which is just across the night market.

For our dinner, I had been contemplating whether to go for seafood or this mexican restaurant called El-cactus which is recommended by most of the travel sites. Since we are only going to spend a night at PD, it feels incomplete if we were going to miss the seafood here. Then, I came out with this brilliant plan =D, we shall have an early dinner at El-cactus and then go for seafood for supper.

Check out the description in Wikitravel below, sounds too good to be missed, right?

"If you happen to have a craving for "Western" food, El Cactus cannot be beat. They do absolutely top-notch Mexican food: nachos, burritos, fajitas, quesadillas etc.; they are as good (or even better) than anything I've sampled in my many trips to Mexico."

Hehe...we forgot that we ordered chicken with fajita and we totally missed the fajita cause it was covered beneath the towel. My mom discovered the fajita only after when we are about the leave.

The unhidden fajita
Overall, all the food that we ordered was good. We only ordered one appetizer and two main courses for the four of us but we were already super duper full. We went back to hotel to rest before supper. Unfortunately, I overslept till the next morning. So, there gone our plan for seafood. :P

The bill and address.
Their food are very reasonably-priced

IMG_0809
The resident cat at El-cactus. See the cube of food on the floor? That was from our sirlion steak which my mom took to feed this cat. Lucky cat.

Before we head back to KL on the next day, we went to Weng Yin seafood for lunch. Though this place is recommended on wikitravel, it was a total disappointment :(. Nevertheless, I will still share the photos.

Remember to avoid this place.

IMG_0825
Worst clam soup in the history. The clam wasn't fresh and the soup was bland.

IMG_0824
Butter milk prawn - it was so-so only.

IMG_0822
Ho-chien - Not nice and the oyster was too small

IMG_0827
Fried vegetable. See also can tell it's not nice

IMG_0828
The bill, it wasn't even cheap.

Here's Weng Yin address if you want to recommend this place to the people that you hate.
